Duelectrum Bio: (loosely translated)
The concept of "Wall of Sound" created by the producing one Phil Spector in the years 60 consists of fill all of the channels utilized in an engraving with instruments and diverse effects. The of São Paulo trio Duelectrum decided to do grace of the idea and, for record the EP Duelectr1, thrown in 2002, utilized everybody the 8 available channels in their homestudio based in an iMac, filling the compact one of premiere of guitars, microfonias and noise. So near to the rock on the occasion of the environmental experimentation, the band, that began with the double one Filipe Albuquerque and Franklin Weise in the beginning of 1999, passed 2005 stop. But a disorder in forgetful digital files in the Macintosh of the Franklin revealed engravings – all in decrease fidelity – made between 2002 and the beginning of 2005, ready for explode amplifiers with waves of reverbs, distortions, effects of sintetizador and doses of feedback. Those engravings were compiled in the disk Tempestadestelar, predicted for the end of the year, and an opinion poll of them is available in the EP Electrolândia. In the end of 2007, Luiz Freitas, tambem integral of the Gray Strawberries and of the Old Magic Pallas replaced the old drummer, Éber Freitas. Despite of it headed by Franklin and Filipe, both evangelical, the band, following the example of the Starflyer 59, foge of the standard gospel, with letter regarding a God that is not foreign to the human condition, and follows destroying loudspeakers while rotates buttons of moduladores of frequency, to be prepared for the days that are for come.

Hello, how are you?
I’m pretty good, thank you.

What are you currently listening to?
Astrobrite, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, A Place to Bury Strangers, Agents of Future, Shop Assistants, The Primitives, Crystal Stilts

What’s the music scene like in Sao Paulo , Brazil?
We have bands playing all nigh, some venues, most of them are terrible… but here, if you’re in a band and some of your friends have their own venues, independent labels or working on festival’s offices, you’re a lucky guy. However, if you don’t have it, you will probably have some difficulties to find venues to play. So sad, I guess.

For the people who haven’t heard you yet, can you explain your sound?
People use to classify us as a shoegaze band. I think noisy pop is more appropriate for us. But I’m fine with shoegaze as well.

Who were you main influences growing up?
I have always listened to rock, since I was a kid. The first rock record I listened entirely was Kiss "Creatures of the Night". During early teen days (10, 11 years old) I used to listen punk rock, bands like Ramones, Circle Jerks, Toy Dolls, Dead Kennedy’s and brazilian punk and post punk bands as well. At the late 80’s I started to listen Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen, Cure, The Smiths and early 90’s I started do listen Stone Roses, Charlatans, Sonic Youth, MBV, Adorable, Flying Saucer Attack

What’s the story behind the band name?
We took some stupid names on the first rehearsals, things like Galaxy Trio (from a Hanna Barbera Cartoon) and The Stargazers, but we never liked it. So we decided to put in the same word parts of other words – Danelectro, from retro pedals and guitars, and Spectrum, from the british band. The ‘du’ thing came from ‘Duo’, a couple, because we were just me and Franklin Weise, the bass player, at the beginning. So, that’s it.

Your decision to release two EP’s rather than one full length is interesting, how did this come up?
It’s funny, because we had nine songs recorded and we didn’t have any idea what to do with them, because we were not sure about the record quality. So I decided to put the four best tracks on an ep. It was released on 2008. So, in last January I listened the leftovers again and we decided to release another ep.

What’s next for Duelectrum.. Massive touring? New album(s)?
The idea is releasing a full lengh and find some venues to play live.

You can only keep/listen to ONE album for the rest of your life ..which album would it be?
Uh, I don’t know…. Maybe "Loveless". Or Starflyer 59’s "Silver". But it can be different tomorrow.

Are you living your dream?
Not yet.

Thanx Filipe!

Duelectrum are currently playing local shows in there hometown, one day they will hopefully venture to the states..hopefully...
