REVIEW: Me And You And Everyone We Know - Original Soundtrack

8.5 out of 10

A little bit ago I listed my Top 20 Soundtracks.. The biggest problem with making lists like that is there will always be that one album you will forget. Not because it's less important, your mind just slips. Having said that, if I was to go back and redo that list, this album would've made that list for sure (probably in the top 10 portion).

Some of you may remember the name Michael Andrews from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. If you're a fan of that soundtrack this will be right up your alley. If you're a fan of mellow/somewhat Sci-Fi sounds mixed gorgeously with some micro-pop structures you will love this soundtrack.

This album is pretty ambient music mixed with a bits of electronics, acoustics, drum machines, and LOTS of piano/organ work. At certain points you may even be reminded of Brian Eno's earlier ambient music(Thursday Afternoon/Another Green World). Michael Andrews does all but three songs on this album. One of those three songs is "A Summer Long Since Passed" by Virginia Astley. Listen to this song, please, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. Then read about the album that goes with said song, and you may understand why it fits so perfectly on "Me And You And Everyone We Know". Seriously, it's one of the best Ambient/field recorded songs of all time.

I love when movies let soundtracks to the talking for the film and "Me And You.." is a perfect example of what I mean by that. You can feel the emotion of each character/scene within each and every note held on this album. "Me And You And Everyone We Know" is an astonishing film full of witty sayings and curious symbolism, the soundtrack is it's breezy laid back companion. Without the music, the film may fail. If you can listen to this soundtrack and not feel anything emotional it's time to recharge your battery, because you're a robot(not the good kind).

Standout Tracks: All of them. Or.. specifically; When I Call A Name, What's That Sound?, Signs, Me And You Shoes, Mirror, Fu(k, Boy Moves The Sun, A Summer Long Since Passed
