REVIEW: Kashiwa Daisuke - April.#02

8.5 out of 10

WOW. I can't believe I'm just now discovering this artist. How is there not an insane amount of buzz over this guy??? Kashiwa Daisuke is a one man "wonder" musician/lap-top producer. He mixes elements of Classical, whimsical, glitch, avant-garde, Jazz, and some IDM.

Kashiwa Daisuke, although uses a lot of Classical themes in his music, was originally influenced by harder "rock" music. "April No. 2" is a piece of art that moves forward and forward, never looking back. The use of piano on this album is ASTOUNDING, the best I've heard in a long time. In-between each "glitch-take" Mr. Daisuke easily transcends genres and completely changes the progression of the song. The album goes from "slow/comfortable" piano melody's to abstract noises, arpegiations, drum fills, field recordings, unique production effects, and sporadic upbeat glitch brilliance. The amount of effort/creativity/passion that goes into each track is equal to any Classical masterpiece out there.

"April.#02" is what happens when you mix Eric Satie, Philip Glass, Max Richter, Venetian Snares, 65daysofstatic, This Mortal Coil, and Aphex Twin together. Buy this now if you're into Piano/impossible to mirror time signatures. Buy this NOW if you want to impress your friends with amazing music. I have another band to add to my "Must see before I die" list.

Standout Tracks: Do Re Me?(terrific opener), April #2(This song is 27+ minutes long!--with no boring moment!), Airdrop (the synths remind me of This Mortal Coil), The Unexclusive Virus ~Even Our Invinsible Religion "Technology" Cannot~ (G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!)
