Check into (x2) Myyths and Feast Of Violet..
&
+ this:
The above (gorgeous) video of polar-organic Goth/Drag euphoria comes from 1/2 Fvnerals, under the pseudonym Myyths. Their debut album comes out January 13th via the duo's own label Eerie Echoes. Feast Of Violet is Experimental Dub-Gaze as imagined by (one man act) Allen Taylor out of Atlanta, GA. His music (which there's a lot of and is all free!) kind of reminds me of A Sunny Day In Glasgow.. (Which speaking of ASDIG, have you heard their latest single? The new album is "complete" from what I hear, they're just trying to figure out how they want to release it;)

An EP sooo good, one might call it "ear crack"..
Sometimes tragedy breathes the most beautiful life force amidst our creative side..
From Fifty Grand:
8 months ago someone close to my heart died tragically and unexpectedly. I took to music for healing purposes and made these songs. I can't imagine revisiting them now and working them to a different level of completion, so here they are, untouched as of when they were created last October.

Check into (x2) Downstate and Sádon..
Downstate resembles Arca (whom EIC loves) only slightly more perverse-Ambient meets Glitch Hop. Make sure you listen to (track #3) "S I H C" and/or "Why Th F#ck?". Sádon is slow-growing Post Gaze Pop (kind of sounds like the mail-equivalent to Grouper) music that creeps it's way under your skin and leaves distorted blissful messages throughout. Listen to (track #3) "Little Maple" and/or (track #5) "Sacrifice".
I'd like to thanks both of these artists for making my Saturday that much nicer;]

REVIEW: Jared Fairfield/Afraid - EMF
8 out of 10
On this split "debut LP" between Jared Fairfield & Afraid the duo give us a sneak peak into a (not so) distant future filled with all sorts of luscious-dark sounds. Both of these artists are a shining example of underrated/overlooked talent. This release was/is severely overlooked, and not nearly enough people are talking about it.. a shame really. I have a feeling this is all about to change though (especially as more and more people talk about how great this release truly is;).
Jared & Jakob (Afraid) compliment each other perfectly on 'EMF'. Jared's sounds are somewhat "Balam Acab-y meets Post Drag/Trance meets É…", whereas Afraid's sound are more Dark/Gothic Electronica (can't think of a comparison at the moment, although..maybe "Radiohead Drag" comes to mind, also É…). The general tone of this release as a whole is "mournful Post Dub/Trance Drag Step". There's enough variance here to suite a lot of moods, overall though it's atmosphere is best suited for slower more cumbersome-melancholy days infused with a small lining of post-hope. What "EMF" means we may never know (I guess it's a secret), it doesn't really matter though. You will be so intrigued by this release that it just doesn't matter what it necessarily "represents/narrates" (side note: this is only the first album of many in the "EMF" series..II is on it's way soonish I believe). Come up with an acronym of your own, I think you'll feel/agree with what these two artists were going for when they put this piece of art together, you'll also agree with me when I say "I need moar NOW (please?)".
Highly (good enough for this list = good enough for you.) Recommended.

Check into (x2) Mauracher and How Love..
&
..Strong female leads, polor opposite styles... Mauracher is a semi-successful "Alt-Indie" act out of Australia. Their latest album "Super Seven" is out now on Fabrique Records. They sort of remind me of Garbage meets The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, only catchier ..and better. How Love, a "random bandcamp find" reminds me of Biblo a tad, mixed with a dash of dragged out ∆Aimon (kinda?). Anyways, I hope you enjoy both as much as I do;]

REVIEW: How I Quit Crack - Untitled CDR
8.75 out of 10
Another Witch House/Drag artist I stumbled across a while back and have been meaning to talk about.. How I Quit Crack is a part of the Witch House clique that seems to be shrouded by a bit of mystery and (maybe) misery. Phantasma Disques (remove yourself from under that boulder, you've heard of this label by now RIGHT?), the home (usually) of HIQC, is notorious for releasing some of thee darkest Electronic music out there and releasing it all on limited run CDRs, DVDs, newspapers, etc (seriously, there's a lot of swag here). All of it under one persons supervision of course (which is why the art is so similar on these releases--which I love btw). Some of it I like, some of it I LOVE, How I Quit Crack is probably my favorite artist from said label. Her (Tina's) music is very slow and debilitating, somewhat introspective and definitely dark. Take a moment and introduce yourself to Tina's art if you haven't done so by now..
Let it unfold, let it unfold, ..have patience, let this dark piece of art so elegantly titled "Untitled CDR", creep it's way into your heart. Droney vocal manipulations, dark/eerie synths, monotonous drum machines, and a bit of disparity make for a most excellent album, I'm pretty sure this is part of HIQC's motto. 'Untitled CDR' is pretty much a perfect example of what I am looking for when I say I like "Modern Dark Sounds". There's something very unique about HIQC's style that I just can't put my finger on. It's so simple, but its entirely complex and intensely layered at the same time. Her cover of Chris Isaak's classic is "Wicked Game", is (in this writer's opinion) maybe even better than the original, a rare feat, but I thoroughly believe it.
This is such a dark-downer, why wouldn't you like it? Recommendedx▲.
Standout Tracks:Wantingyou, Collapse, Godblessthechild, Thatboy (my second favorite track, sounds like something John Balance would write♥)

How I Quit Crack Bio:
How I Quit Crack is a Lo-Fi Witch House/Drag artist (Tina) from Texas. I wish I could say more, but I couldn't find a decent Bio..;( Just listen for yourself..

Hello, how are you?
Hey. Climbin' up the wallz, spinning in my bed, you?
What are you currently listening to?
I keep listening to the Raincoats record 'ODYSHAPE' especially thiz type of song, its so fruity and light like a drink, also Yoko's 'APPROXIMATELY INFINITE UNIVERSE' ..and the Nirvana 'FECAL MATTER' demos, Mostly I download songs then slow em down or reverse 'em to palatalization is complete and I can digest..
Care to explain the band name?
I had a dark period in my life that the name illustrates. I made an escape pod for my soul with HIQC makin' diary videos in my room and recording in my bed.... Either way, I don't know if "HOW I QUIT CRACK" means anything anymore, it's like my ILLUMINATI ALTAR now where I have my play time and make shapes with colors. And it's a place I hide often.
Out of all your tracks you have done so far do you have a favorite?
"Wanting You", it's a digicrawl. I wish everything sounded like this all the time sometimes. Also for fave videos; "In Realm" and "In Realm (Live)", somewhere between these 2 I exist I propose..
Is there a new LP on the horizon?
Yess! 2 in the works now, feverishly recording and sorting myself, I'm terrible to wait upon.. I have 2 coming sooon from Texas based labels; HOLODECK RECORDS with friends, TROLLER etc. And also PECAN CRAZY RECORDS, run by ATTIC TED. So far it seems like they're gonna be 2 very different records.
Will you be touring for said album?
Kinda in the talks of a tour now, I'm not certain to go West or East, Up Down...? Talking with TROLLER about a summer tour and possible an East Coast Tour in April, but still workin' the bugs into that one..
What movie would work best on mute while listening to your music and why?
Digi-scramble Simpsons I think would be great,........maybe Disney's Sleeping Beauty or All Dogs Go To Heaven anything Don Bluth animated..
Got any other projects we should know about?
HARD WHITE with Alex from Blissed Out. It's a in the air and deep in the Earth like shopping malls of the mind, it's has me excite, anthemic discourse that is..
You can only keep/listen to ONE album for the rest of your life ..which album would it be?
Yoko Ono's 'APPROXIMATELY INFINITE UNIVERSE' its dated sounding sometimes but its amazing all the time..
Are you living your dream?
I think I go out of my way to manifest my dreams literally. I live dreams by acting them out after they're conceived. Honestly, I'm not sure what my dreams are except to go to Europe sometime soon, I guess dreams snowball.
Hey. Climbin' up the wallz, spinning in my bed, you?
What are you currently listening to?
I keep listening to the Raincoats record 'ODYSHAPE' especially thiz type of song, its so fruity and light like a drink
Thanx Tina & Phantasma!
HIQC is currently working on a slew of projects for the terrific Phantasma Disques label (as well as a slew of other labels), look for more of her work in the very near future...

REVIEW: Dream Boat - Widow
I (everybody actually) talk(s) a lot about Witch House/Drag/Ominous Electronic Atmospheric artists these days, recently I was thinking about why this genre is so perfectly engineered for me.. My adolescent beginnings with music were a bit more aggro/angsty mixed with (always) dark & weird. I maintained my love for the dark and weird part, but I've since then mellowed out a lot (quite a bit actually). Probably my teen years exiting my body while my grumpy/tired old man years enter..(you kids stay off my lawn!) ::ahem:: soo Witch House/Drag just makes sense, being that most of it is indeed "dark and weird" but also mostly mellow and hallucinogenic. One of my favorite artists of all time (probably mentioned about once a week around these parts:) is Coil, and to me this ever growing "Drag circuit" is a product of them specifically. That's going on a whim I know, there are a lot more "Experimental Electronic Dark bands" before Coil, yes but there were none that did it better. And now, because of Coil's ginormous impact on my life, music's life, and many more (I'm sure of it) today's Arcane Atmospheres are tomorrows adored nostalgia morphed into something all its own..
I'm not gonna pretend like I know a lot about the enigma that is Dream Boat, all I can tell you is that this band (two people; Lucy & Sina) were indeed "built" for my ears. Up until this point Dream Boat have only released a handful of (mostly FREE) EP's. I was intrigued by said albums, but it wasn't until 'Widow' that I knew how much potential this group truly has. 'Widow' is more than just one of the best Drag album's of all time, it's transcending another universal platform through Gothic parallels. As dark as you leave your earthly realm is as dark as you will voyage into a surreal ambient (sort of) bleak vortex.
This is one of those albums where the artwork speaks miles for the music. Witch House coven have been soaking this one in for a bit now, now it's your turn. 'Widow' is hands down one of the best albums of 2011.
Standout Tracks: Widow, Poppies, Imissu, Southern Down (sounds like a "Gothic Grouper" (kind of)), What You Saw

Vagina Vangi - Locked ForeverI recently stumbled across an interesting article on Witch House. The article, which goes on to talk about the history of and describing "Drag's" sound/nature, has a bunch of links at the end of it (honestly, this is one of the best lists I've ever seen in regards to the genre) with a few artists I failed to discover earlier. Symbols aside (which are somewhat fun & perplexing), I really do love this genre. There are a lot of impersonators (much like every genre), but the few that do standout have gone on to become everyday listens for me. I just thought I'd share that/these with you..
