REVIEW: White Poppy - Drifters Gold

8.5 out of 10
Find it here.

A little over a year ago Crystal Dorval (White Poppy) released her debut album 'I Had A Dream', in my headphones it became an instant classic and what I would consider a must-own for all hardcore Dream Pop fans. This year (+ a couple releases later) she is back at it (creating masterful Psychedelic Dream Pop) with 'Drifters Gold'.

'Drifters Gold' is astonishing & beautiful right off the bat, the beginning intro is a heavenly drone which is just such the perfect way to open the album. Shortly after ear euphoria has fully set in Crystal introduces her (perfectly tender & warming) voice into the mix, which is  somewhat reminiscent of Liz Harris' voice (only more dreamy, less woodsy). From there the listener sways and remains on a relaxing cruise drifting amongst waves of alluring vocals, pretty acoustics, perfect compositions, and distortions and drones galore. Yes, this album is a masseuse for your brain, your brain deserves some comfort doesn't it?

Highly "You-need-this-album." Recommended.

Standout Tracks: All. Esp; Silver Eyes (one of my favorite tracks of this year) and When I'm Gone (great ender)
