Hooray For Earth Bio:
Hooray For Earth is a New York City-based rock band built around the home-recordings of singer and multi-instrumentalist Noel Heroux. The group first emerged publicly as Hooray For Earth in late 2005 in Boston, MA. The original lineup stood as Heroux, bassist Christopher Principe, guitarist Gary Benacquista and drummer Seth Kasper. The group added drummer/multi-instrumentalist Joseph Ciampini after Kasper's departure in March 2009.

The band played shows and self-released early demo recordings locally in Boston and the surrounding area until Heroux moved to New York City in August 2007. On February 26, 2008, Dopamine Records released the six-track Cellphone EP, which was was recorded during the months leading up to Heroux's departure to New York.

Following Heroux's relocation the Hooray For Earth project laid primarily dormant, until early 2009 when Heroux teamed up with friend Josh Ascalon to co-produce a group of new recordings. After several months of casual studio work, the two emerged with a set of songs which would find release in the form of the Momo EP. Momo was first released by eMusic Selects, a program in which unknown, unsigned artists are hand-picked by eMusic's editors for exclusive digital-only releases through the site. Dovecote Records later re-issued Momo (June 1, 2010) including an additional track, new artwork and CD/Vinyl formats.

The band have toured the U.S. extensively following the release of Momo, including support slots for The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Surfer Blood, A Place To Bury Strangers and Architecture In Helsinki.

In October, 2010, one-off single "A Place We Like" was released as a free download. The song, recorded at RAD Studio in Bushwick, NY, is a collaborative production between Hooray For Earth and Brooklyn musician Twin Shadow.

in July 2010 Heroux rented a small room in a shared loft space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn where he would spend six weeks writing and recording material for Hooray For Earth's first full-length LP, True Loves.Heroux performed, engineered and produced the album, with Ciampini, Principe and Benacquista entering the studio periodically with instrumental contributions. Several of the album's songs feature vocal contributions by NYC noise-pop group and frequent collaborators Zambri. The album was mixed by Chris Coady. True Loves was released by Dovecote Records on June 7, 2011.

Hello, how are you?
I'm good thank you

What are you currently listening to?
I'm listening to Autechre's "Oversteps"

Is there a story behind the band name?
Our good friend Pete Swan used to have intense house parties (apartment parties) and the first time we played out as 'Hooray For Earth' was in his living room. The name was from a joke overheard at the party, and we sort of adopted it for the band. It just stuck.

What song of yours do you think best represents the entire project as a whole?
There isn't a song that I can designate as such a representative for the band.

Tell us a little bit about "True Loves", is there a theme involved?

There was not a specifically intended theme in the very beginning, but the album revealed itself to a certain extent to be thematically built around deep anxiety and elation in response to the state of our world and sociology. Lots of stress for humans, destroying each other and loving each other so aggressively from moment to moment.

Will you be touring for said release?
We just returned from two weeks on the road (June) and will be heading out for five weeks in Sept/October. We're looking forward to heading to Europe soon too!!!

Do you have a least favorite genre in music, if so why?
I guess all the top 40 club music is generally pretty off-putting/offensive to people with any sort of realistic emotions and/or heartaches. Although some of that really speaks to people. I'm wildly put-off but you have to respect that certain things mean something to other people.

If you could choose any artist of your choice (dead or alive) to remix one of your songs whom would be?
I can't say here, its dangerous..

You can only keep/listen to ONE album for the rest of your life ..which album would it be?
I'd rather have no album and just listen to everything in my head.

Are you living your dream?
In music no. in the rest of life, almost entirely yes, just need some paychecks.

Thanx HFE!

Hooray For Earth is about to embark on a European tour, be sure to check out "True Loves" in the meantime...
