EIC's 10Q's w/ Image Circle

"..chill as f^(k meets peculaiar-angelic.."

Image Circle
Vertiginous Refinement

Image Circle Bio:
Image Circle is Slow Head & Moon Mirror. Their debut release 'Mecca' came out October 12th, 2012.

Hello, how are you?
Fine, thank you. How are you?

What are you currently listening to?
We listen to a lot of nature sounds. We try not to draw influence from other music that's out there because we like our sound to be unique to us.

When did this project come about/how did you guys meet?
We met on hdghettos2 in march of 2012.

What's with the band name?
Good one, huh?

Care to tell us a little bit about your latest release 'Mecca'?
'Mecca' was a labor of love. It's a mix of recordings made digitally and also using tape. We currently have an un-mastered version of the whole album available for $2 download on bandcamp.

Is Image Circle a one-time deal?
No way, we are way too into it.

Got any other projects we should know about?
We're working on our follow up album now, but we aren't rushing things and we're taking time to really develop our sound.

What movie would work best on mute while listening to you music?
Pretty much any nature documentary.

You can only keep/listen to ONE album for the rest of your life ..which album would it be?
'24 Preludes' by Chopin

Are you living your dream?
Is that a euphemism for smoking weed? if so then YES.

Thanx IC!

Image Circle is currently working on a follow up to their debut LP 'Mecca'...

REVIEW: Image Circle - Mecca

8 out of 10

Image Circle is a new "side" project featuring Slow Head and Moon Mirror. On 'Mecca' (their debut) IC come across as a narcoleptic Grimes meets Aphex Twin meets Telefon Tel Aviv.

There are LOTS of layers of great samples & loops on IC's debut LP (not quite sure what the analog to digital ratio is); most of these layers & tones in-vein of Shoegaze meets Industrial meets Ambient meets IDM, which collide & glide in-between heavenly (slightly reverb-drenched) vocals. The overall vibe is "chill as f^(k meets peculiar-angelic".. Just give it a listen, you'll like what you hear.

Highly Recommended stuff here (ESPECIALLY if you like any of the names mentioned above). I can't wait to hear where this project takes it's sound in the future. (and yes, more music is coming;)

Standout Tracks: Wings, Pink Fox, Hooded Clone, Spheres (♥)

EIC's 10Q's w/ Slow Head

"..explores head-tripped/hallucinating drugged-out Clubbier vibes.."

Slow Head
Benumbed Desire

Slow Head Bio:
From his homebase in northeastern Tennessee, the man behind Slow Head has been making his ethereal electronic melodies long before the Slow Head project. Before he was picked up in 2011 by Texas weirdo label Disaro I had a bootleg tape in about 2003 called ‘Society Of Sensation’ from the now-defunct Canadian label Kandria which was the first time I heard the oddly warped, detuned bells and chimes which would become sort of a hallmark of his later work. And his output is huge; he has also made music under numerous other names including: Sioux Spur, Miners, Deodo, Horrid Veils, and more. ‘One can still find all those old CD’s on the net if they know where to look’ he told me in a recent interview, in which he went on to say, "Slow Head isn't for everyone, it’s a vibe, you know?"  Indeed

Hello, how are you?
 Coordinated and well prepared.

What are you currently listening to?
Mr. Head decided to skip this one, we'll assume it's something awesome though;]

Whats with the band name?
Two reasons. There is a part in the track "My Neck, My Back" by Khia where she says, “Slow Head show me so much love…” I used to cut up mixes with that. But it also came to symbolize for me this one guy I knew who was…a little not there.

Care to tell us a little bit about your latest release
'Fire Is The Mouth Of The Snake', themes/personal favorite track(s)?
Everywhere I looked last year (and for some weird reason hardly at all this one), people were talking about this upcoming Mayan apocalypse or whatever and I wanted to find out for myself what a lot of it was about. It is a very symbolic album for me. Learning anything I could about Mayan culture at the time was very inspiring. Of course my fave track is "Fire Is The Mouth.."

Any plans to tour for said release?
You never know!

Got any other projects we should know about?
I have been messing around as this tech-house DJ named DJ Oilspill. I have a profile on mixcrate.com. I also just finished an album with Moon Mirror as Image Circle for AmDiscs. (Everyone should get it)

What movie would work best on mute while listening to you music?
Fellini’s 'Satyricon'

You can only keep/listen to ONE album for the rest of your life ..which album would it be?

Are you living your dream?
It truly would be weird to actually live your dreams. Like flying cars and shit?

Thanx Slow Head & Disaro!

Slow Head is currently waiting patiently for you to fall into his sound, do that now...

REVIEW: Slow Head - Fire Is The Mouth Of The Snake

7.5 out of 10

Although Slow Head (and his many other monikers) has been at it for a bit now I really didn't come across his music until last year's (super overlooked/underrated) 'Night Glitters' release.

First things first, although the artist is on the label/powerhouse-conveyor of awesome underground Dark/Experimental music; Disaro, Slow Head is NOT Drag, Slow Head is also NOT Witch House. Upon first listening of some his older material you might think this (in a way--and still maybe..idk?), but really his sound (to me) can be best described as "Spooky IDM". On 'Fire Is The Mouth Of The Snake' Mr. Head ventures a little further away from the spooky aspect though and explores head-tripped/hallucinating drugged-out Clubbier vibes instead. To be honest, this release sounds pretty much polar opposite of 'Night Glitters' (which I kinda wish wasn't the case (sometimes--I also love it though), but I'm happy that he's open to new ideas). Take a stripped down Clark album, mix it with a dash of Aphex Twin's earlier Ambient works add a few extra Dark tones and "Fire Is The Mouth Of The Snake" might be your end result. I actually really like the simple/minimal vibe of this release. And based on the differences in tones (from beginning to now) I feel like we've got a few more awesome albums like this (and better) coming to us..(very soon?)

Chill/Dark IDM , what's not to like about that?

Standout Tracks:The Pearl (this reminds me of the "golden era" Warp sounds), Fire Is The Mouth, Plumed Serpent, Jade Tongue, Twelve Macaw (Shisa Remix), Alt. Mode (Slow Head Remix)
