Mark Linkous (R.I.P.) + Azure Ray = new song for you..

“Silverlake” is a non-album track from the Azure Ray’s "Drawing Down The Moon" album. This early version was recorded with the late Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse).

Sounds like a match made in heaven.

Remeber that Ben Frost/Eno collab?

Here's a lil' more info:

With the 50th anniversary of the publication of Krakow writer Stanislaw Lem’s novel Solaris in 2011, Ben Frost and Daníel Bjarnasson are creating an ambitious project with Sinfonietta Cracovia, one of Poland’s leading orchestras. Created for 29 string players, 2 percussionists, prepared piano, guitars and electronics, Music For Solaris has its beginnings in both Lem’s original novel and the 1972 film adaptation by Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky. It is a re-imagined soundtrack for a film so still as to become almost absent, a story in sound, and an exploration of an interior cosmos. It is music written by human beings, removed and mutated by machine intelligence, then translated once more by human beings. It is strange and unique, filled with and borne of concepts. Integral to the project are a series of "film manipulations" by Brian Eno and Nick Robertson, drawing on moments from the original Tarkowsky film to create a visual parallel to the music composition process.

The seed of Music For Solaris began simply enough with Ben Frost’s dissatisfaction with the original score for the Tarkovsky film.“I always felt that Russian composer Eduard Artemyev's score compounded the external, science fiction elements of the story rather than exploring the internal, the human,” he says. With a commission from Krakow’s Unsound Festival – based in the very birthplace of Stanislaw Lem’s novel – Frost found himself with the opportunity of working with Sinfonietta Cracovia. Soon enough, he had also recruited his friend and Bedroom Community labelmate, Icelandic composer / conductor Daníel Bjarnason.

A visual element created by Brian Eno and Nick Robertson has now become a crucial part of the whole. The work will recorded in Krakow, for release as an album on the Icelandic label Bedroom Community. The North American premiere of the piece and launch of the album will take place at Unsound Festival New York at the start of April 2011, marking the 50th anniversary of the publication of Lem’s novel.

I don't wannaCAN NOT wait for this to come out..

Bjork & Michel Gondry to do a "Scientific Musical"..

Earlier this year it was revealed that Michel Gondry & Bjork were going to reunite for a "mysterious, secret film" project that was described by the director as "very undefined, so it’s hard to give more precision.

Recently in a new interview Mr. Gondry gave out a few more details on said project..
"We have a very ambitious project, a sort of scientific musical," Gondry explained. "[It's a movie], but maybe more for museums. Like a 40 minute IMAX project in 3D."

Hmm, Gondry with Bjork can you imagine the possibilities? Oh wait! You CAN!

Portishead/Goldfrapp collaboration..

Goldfrapp producer/multi-instrumentalist Will Gregory and Portishead producer/multi-instrumentalist Adrian Utley are creating a new score for Carl Theodor Dreyer's classic film "The Passion of Joan of Arc".

They will premiere their score May 7 at Bristol, England's Colston Hall. The performance will feature six electric guitarists, members of the Monteverdi Choir, percussionists, horn players, & keyboard pushers, along with Gregory and Utley.

It seems like these two bands would have joined forces by now..(better late than never!)

Massive Attack + Burial = daaaamn

From Clash:

Trip hop legends Massive Attack are set to work with dubstep producer Burial.

Massive Attack began life as the loose-knit collective known as The Wild Bunch. A hugely influential soundsystem in Bristol the DJ rig allowed the young musicians to explore a huge range of influences.

Despite moving on into production and working with some of their heroes Massive Attack have never lost their lust for new music. In a new interview with ClashMusic the band's Daddy G spoke a length of his love for dubstep.

Listing a number of new producers, Daddy G also claimed that in places he can see where his group may have influenced the new wave of bass driven producers.

However the Massive Attack hero was later to drop a bombshell. "I don't know if I should really say this" began Daddy G.

"What the plan is... you know that Mad Professor record that we did? (1995's 'No Protection'). Essentially trying to get that together, where Burial essentially remixes quite a lot of the new tracks. Brings out a different version of quite a lot of the tracks that we've done".

"We've been listening to a lot of the stuff that he does and he's just amazing. The way he does his layers, his drums and stuff like that. The dubstep thing is amazing, there's a lot of really good people there - Kode9 is great as well. These kids are just amazing and we want to be part of that".

Massive Attack are set to release their new album in February next year. There is no timescale for the Burial remix project.

HOLY GOD YES.
