REVIEW: Passion Pit - Manners

7.25 out of 10

Just a little bit ago Passion Pit main man Michael Angelakos released his debut EP "Chunk Of Change". "Chunk Of Change" received warm responses all across the review board. And to think it was all just a Valentine's Day gift for his lady, awww. Since the magic has been released there has been much hype going on in anticipation of the debut full length "Manners". Although hype generally helps a bands reputation it can also destroy it. Passion Pit, however, is one of those rare bands that surpasses the hype it receives.

"Manners" is a faultless Electro-Indie-Pop album that's sure to keep any listener smiling. The music is uplifting, catchy, well written, danceable, and just plain loveable. Again (see "Chunk Of Change" review), when I'm listening to Passion Pit, I am definitely reminded of Postal Service. With "Manners", however, the production has pushed a bit forward, the electronic samples/keyboard sounds are more prominent, and the catchy pop melodies that sometimes remind me of The Shins are even catchier than before.

If you're looking for music to put a smile on your face and that could also be suitable for a warm cars drive to nowhere with your friends look no further than Passion Pit's "Manners". With an album as charming and commendable as this "Manners" just seems like an obvious title.

Standout Tracks: Little Secrets, Moth's Wings (one of 09's best singles), The Reeling, Swimming In The Flood, Folds In Your Hands, Eyes As Candles (one of my favorite tracks), Sleepyhead (always in my head)
