Thank you Syd & Tiffany;] Syd & Tiffany (aka Myyths) are 1/2 Fvnerals, because of a previous post this amazing duo decided to reach out to me and share something new/really special..

Mixing elements of dark & brooding Post Industrial clamor with Classical-Gothic overtones plus sparse Electronic tones mixed with Field Recorded-esque atmospheres; 'Tystnadt' is quite possibly one of the best debuts I have ever heard. Myyths may be lumped under the Witch House genre, but they're really something much more unique than just one sound. "Organic Goth Factory Tech" seems a little more appropriate if you ask me.. I feel like I haven't been this pleased with a new comer in a long time. RIYL: Zola Jesus, Ben Frost, Mustapha Mond, Chelsea Wolfe, ∆Aimon, and the likes.

So far the best new thing from 2014. Highly "I am 100% excited for this projects future" Recommended x ∞.

REVIEW: Yöri - In Dreams EP

I've only just recently begun my adventure into Yöri's audial dream world. In-fact, since September I have been listening to Yöri's music on repeat. The first release 'Capsule' (a name your own price album;) was something I found very hard to put down. The wait in-between that release and this one; 'In Dreams', was very short, I found it nearly impossible to give either release all the full attention and time they really deserve. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I just feel like if the rest of the music world could just pause for one moment while we let Yöri do her thing amongst the silence..something magical would happen.

My previous comparison of "Bjork does Witch House" still stands, only on this release however Yöri focuses on even stronger (Electronic infused) compositions that almost lean toward (a familiar-sounding) Trip Hop territory (think early-mid 90's) which makes 'In Dreams EP' sound more about the mystical than the sinister. A proper follow up indeed though, between this release and her last I'd say Yöri has her sound down, and it definitely doesn't hurt that H3X3N produces. I'm eagerly anticipating the first official LP.

One day (soon maybe) lots of people will be talking about Yöri's music. Why not just start your obsession from the beginning? Highly Recommended.

As far as I know Scared Crows is one guy (Kasper Aagaard Troelsen), he is Danish. I don't know much more than that, other than he has another free (full) album HERE. 'Good Night Life' is completely fresh/unique & honest sounding to me. I don't even want to bother with comparisons, I just hope you like this as much as I do;]

REVIEW: Cold Cave - Cherish The Light Years

It's already been about a half decade or so since Cold Cave began forming/emerging. Their earliest sounds were barely audible Industrial Lo-Fi masterpieces that carried the same aesthetics as an early Throbbing Gristle release ..and then came "Love Comes Close", the band's first "official" release/LP. On "Love Come Close" (EIC'c #4 of '09) Cold Cave pushed themselves harder than they had before. The production was astounding, the general writing/quality of songs was up, the sounds were catchier than I thought would be possible. "Love.." was a nearly perfect album with highly addictive results. Now, "Cherish The Light Years", in-which we see the band push themselves even harder as well as gain a little help from (Indie "Man of the Moment" Producer 2.0) Chris Coady (YYY's, Beach House, TVOTR). There is also a slight shift in sound, instead of "dark/gloomy Industrial Pop" CC have now entered the realm of "Hardcore-esque" Dance Pop. So what do I think of this "shift"?

As far as comparing this release to previous releases it will be clear from the album's grand opener "The Great Pan Is Dead" that "Cherish The Light Years" is most certainly the strongest forward-push in the "right" direction of seriously solid/strong Pop productions. As far as comparing it any other aspects of Cold Cave's young career, I would say older releases are a little better/more my taste. I fully realize the title of this album, however this album almost feels "too peppy/bright" for Cold Cave. It makes me wonder if that was the band's decision or a certain producer? If it is indeed the bands decision kudos to them for trying something a little different. Please, please, just don't forget about where you came from, maybe "return to form" on one of your next releases? This album will sell, I know that much. Honestly, I can see this release becoming a household/Hot Topic name. They've got all the right names behind them now, they have an incredibly catchy Pop record here, they've got the right image & they've already got a bit of a fan base. Your 15 minutes begins now Cold Cave. With all this "bashing", understand this; I do really appreciate the quality of writing on this release, I can still hear a bit of CC in a few of these tracks, I just also know it's not 100% up my alley, close (really close). Just not what I was expecting.

A good/solid album, not the way I prefer my Cold Cave, but still pretty decent. Either it's the shift in their sound the bothers me, or there was a shift in my musical taste over the past couple years (which is completely plausible). Expect to see/hear about Cold Cave more and more if the band decides to continue down the Pop route.

REVIEW: Silk Flowers - Ltd. Form

Back in 2009 I was quite smitten by Silk Flowers, whom had a way with revising 80's Cheese Goth meets (the earlier days of) Front 242. I loved the album like any great guilty pleasure before it (maybe obsessed over it actually). A couple years later Silk Flowers have returned, this time with *gasp* --wait for it.. INCREDIBLE production values (nothing really "Lo-Fi" about it at all anymore) and ASTONISHING synth melodies.

Since I began listening to "Ltd. Form" a few days ago I've listened to it at least 6 times. Once again, I find myself obsessing over Silk Flowers.. I love a good comeback, I love when an artist does nothing but improve himself(s), and I especially love when they try something a little different/expand on their style. On Silk Flowers second full length the band manages to keep tidbits of their previous kitschy Goth sound, this time however with a stronger focus on Spacey/New Wavey Synth compositions (glorious-terrific synths -- lots of em') that sort of remind me of Herbie Hancock without all that "funk". There are also fewer vocals this time around, which at first I wasn't sure about, but the more I soak it in I can imagine it any other way. Gawd, I f#$%kn' love this album! "Ltd. Form" is one of the best things I've heard this year. Don't expect another Goth album like this ever again ..that is, until Silk Flowers return again:] GO GET THIS NOW!

Chelsea Wolfe - Benjamin

In a way this song gives me the chills. "Benjamin" is my favorite song off of "The Grime And The Glow". Seriously gorgeous piano work here. I don't care if it technically came out late last year, I'm saying Chelsea's debut opus is a contender for this years best album.. Please, please get yourself acquainted with her NOW.

REVIEW: Android Lust - The Human Animal

During my middle school/high school years (when dinosaurs roamed) things weren't quite as easy as "a click away"... When it came to discovering new underground bands about the only things you could rely on were word of mouth or a few independent zines here and there. One of the best/my favorite sources for finding some amazing Industrial/Goth/Electronic artists was a catalogue based out of Philadelphia called Digital Underground, which was also (presumably) an amazing retail store that also-also eventually turned into a little known record label known as Metropolis. One day while flipping through said catalogue I stumbled across a review for an "up and coming/new artist" called Android Lust. The review said something like "..the female equivalent of Trent Reznor". If you know me, especially back then, you know the whomever this artist is is now an official "must own" item (NIN is gawd). Once the album finally arrived (not finished downloading, actually shipped), "Resolution", it blew me away. To this day it's still one of the best Industrial albums I own. No one out there sounded quite like Android Lust at the time. Android Lust took the best parts of Dark Wave/Goth and intertwined them with Electronic/Industrial tones. Seriously, if you're at all a fan of the genre consider it a must own, in-fact, it was just re-released as a new/super cool limited edition version:) ..Anyways, here we are, over a decade later and Shikhee (Android Lust) is back offering up (yet again) another amazing album.

"The Human Animal" is Android Lust's fourth proper release, and by all means one of her most polished accomplishments to date. Although a little more "Rocky" than previous efforts, "The Human Animal" has many of the same attributes that made ALL of her other albums so great. Actually, the reason this album may sound a little more heavier/raw than previous efforts is because Shikhee wanted to give the effect of a full band. She wanted to introduce her live sound with her studio sound. Overall an excellent idea, trust me when I say this lady knows how to rock as well as shock you with sounds that sound somewhat "unearthly". Most of the tracks on "The Human Animal" have a strong focus on lingering/low end bass sounds, strung out guitar riffs, and blaring drum beats (some electronic sounding/some (mostly) live sounding). The secondary sounds are what truly standout to me though, if you read up on the album a little bit you might know that some of the sounds within are "found sounds", a lot of which were daily occurrences in Shikhee's life. Those sounds plus the always amazing keyboard work and of course Shikhee's ravishing vocals chalk this one up as another win for Android Lust.

If/when Android Lust gets the right publicity she deserves expect Android Lust to (finally) become a house hold name (hopefully). A must own for Industrial Rock fans. Also recommended for fans of Darker/Edgier music with an experimental electronic "twist" behind the sound. Recommended for sure.

Standout Tracks: Intimate Stranger, God In The Hole, The Return (this song is "instantly" astonishing), One World, Flow (Of Impermanence), God In The Hole (a remix, dare i say it.. "better".. than the original--LOVE this song)

REVIEW: Silk Flowers - Silk Flowers

Silk Flowers are a three piece Lo-Fi-Goth-Synth-Pop band from New York. On their self-titled debut album there are three main instruments involved; synths (more than a few), drum machines (at least a couple), & vocals (comparable to Ian Curtis). Their music is simple not too complex, but sometimes simple is better. Keeping it a little more minimal helps these guys pull off a sound that can be truly pleasing to the right listener.

I love the design for this album, I love it when covers speak miles for the music. Silk Flowers have a somewhat clean sound, until they open the window and let some of that "lo-fi filth" in. This album makes me want to go on a hunt for local Goth band cassettes via 1985. With all of the doom and gloom here it seems nearly impossible not to be persuade by its charm. I'm impressed.

An acquired taste indeed, but if you like Lo-Fi Goth music and/or Cold Cave, Fad Gadget, or even Front 242 you will, without any doubt, LOVE Silk Flowers. RECOMMENDED.
